WHEN I GO TO HEAVEN: A Tribute To John Prine

JOIN ME + FRIENDS ON APRIL 7TH AT 8PM EST (2AM IN EUROPE) TO CELEBRATE THE LIFE AND MUSIC OF JOHN PRINE ONE THE ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF HIS PASSING (LINK HERE)

I remember finding out about John being hospitalized of Covid in late March 2020. The world was slowly coming to a halt – cities were being locked down, university was shutting down, and music was in a downfall. Earlier that week, word spread of Jackson Browne catching Covid too. I decided to film a couple of videos, both for Jackson and John, and post them on my Instagram to wish them a speedy recovery.

On the night of April 7th, I posted a video playing one of my all-time favorite songs, “Sam Stone”, for John. When I woke up the very next day, my world shattered when I learned the news that John had passed that very night.

John has been an inspiration ever since the day I first heard, “Taking A Walk” and “Jesus, The Missing Years” in my very early teens. His songwriting and lyrical abilities have always captured and amazed me. There are only three other singers that I consider to have a songwriting capability like John’s – it’s a very elite group. John’s first two albums were a massive fountain of knowledge for me during the writing of my third album, and I’ll always be eternally grateful for all the songs he’s given us.

So, on the anniversary of his passing, I want to celebrate with all of you the life and music of John. A show curated by my good friend Dave Rotella, I’ll be playing side by side with old friends and new friends (Jake Thistle, Taylor Davis, Bobby Mahoney, Evan Rotella, Jake Mathison, Danny Gochnour, Joe D’Urso, and many more).
